Arrival of Kalia at the Yamuna River

The tradition states that Kaliya Nag, a large and dangerous snake, resided with his women in a deep pool of the Yamuna River. His poison caused the Yamuna’s water to become black and so toxic that no living thing could live near it. The birds, animals, and plants that lived along the riverbanks began to perish as a result of the air becoming contaminated.

On the banks of the Yamuna, Lord Krishna once played with his buddies and cows. Some cows and cowherds accidentally drank the tainted Yamuna water because they were thirsty and instantly passed out.
