BJP's strength will decrease in Bihar Legislative Council, the term of 24 MLCs is ending

The term of 20 members of Bihar Legislative Council is ending today while 4 seats are already lying vacant. In such a situation, on July 16, 24 seats will become vacant. This means that only 51 members will be left in the 75-seat Bihar Legislative Council. In such a situation, the number of both the ruling BJP and JDU will be reduced to half. The BJP may have to bear the maximum loss. The 20 MLCs whose term is ending are Manorama Devi, Santosh Kumar Singh, Tunna Ji Pandey, Radhacharan Shah, Reena Yadav, Satchidanand Rai, Rajnish Kumar, Rajan Kumar Singh, Bablu Gupta, Salman Ragib, Subodh Kumar, Dinesh Prasad Singh, Harinarayan Choudhary, Dilip Jaiswal, Ashok Agarwal and Sanjay Prasad.

Apart from these, the tenure of Aditya Narayan Pandey, Suman Kumar, Nutan Singh and Rajesh Ram is also coming to an end. The problem at present is that elections will not be held for these seats. The reason for this is that the three-tier panchayat elections in the state have been postponed due to the corona infection. This has also had an impact on the election of the Legislative Council to be elected by the local body. To reach the Legislative Council, the leaders have to reach the upper house of the state by getting elected from the local body. These elections are done by the head of the village panchayat, the ward member, the member of the panchayat samiti, the member of the zilla parishad. These include the elected members of the Nagar Panchayat, Municipal Councilor and Municipal Corporation.

Panchayat elections have been postponed in Bihar at present due to Corona virus, due to which elections will not be held on time for vacant seats of Legislative Council. Till the three-tier panchayat elections are not held in Bihar, elections will not be held for these 24 seats. In such a situation, there will be a significant decline in the strength of the Legislative Council. Most of the members whose term is ending are from BJP. Apart from this, JDU will also suffer a loss of some seats. Congress and RJD will also have less number of MLCs each. However, India will still have a heavy foothold in the Bihar Legislative Council.
