The court has sent the three accused arrested in the illegal conversion case in Uttar Pradesh on 7-day ATS custody remand. The ATS court has ordered seven-day police custody remand to the three accused from July 22 to July 29. The accused Rameshwar Kanwre alias Adam, Kausar Alam and Dr Arslan alias Bhupriya Bando have been sent on seven-day custody remand.
In fact, in the remand application, ATS has told the important role of all three in illegal conversion. The interrogation is to be conducted on the basis of the data of the electronic device recovered from the accused.
Inquiry will be done by taking Nagpur and New Delhi
Apart from this, the ATS will also interrogate the accused on their bank accounts. Along with this, efforts will be made to find out about such people, whose religion has been converted. According to the information, during the remand period, the ATS team can also take the three to Nagpur, New Delhi and recover the documents. They also have to be questioned on Umar Gautam and people associated with his network.
50 cases have been registered so far
Let us tell you that since the implementation of the Prohibition of Religious Conversion Ordinance-2020 in UP, there has been an increase in the registration of cases in cases of illegal, forcible, fraudulent conversion. Since the promulgation of the ordinance, 50 cases of illegal conversion have been registered in UP. According to this, every month seven cases of illegal conversion are registered in the state.
Most cases were registered in Meerut
UP ADG Prashant Kumar said that the ordinance came into force on 27 November 2020. So far 50 cases have been registered. In 22 of these cases, the police have also filed charge sheets. At the same time, investigation is going on in 25 cases, in only three cases, the police have submitted the final report. Maximum 12 cases have been registered in Meerut zone. 10 cases have been registered in Bareilly zone, 7 in Gorakhpur zone, 5 in Noida commissionerate, four each in Lucknow commissionerate and Varanasi zone, 3 in Agra zone, 2 in Prayagraj zone, one each in Kanpur commissionerate and Lucknow zone.
