VaishnoDevi – Perched in the Trikuta mountain range of Jammu and Kashmir, the revered shrine dedicated to Goddess Vaishno Devi stands as one of the most visited spiritual destinations in India. Encounter with Lord Rama During His Search for Sita

During this journey, he is believed to have reached the shores of Rameshwaram, where he encountered Trikuta. At this meeting, Trikuta expressed her wish to accept Lord Rama as her husband.

However, Lord Rama explained that he had taken a vow of loyalty to Goddess Sita and was bound by that commitment. Religious accounts describe that despite her repeated requests, he remained firm in his vow. At the same time, he assured Trikuta that he would return to meet her after completing his mission in Lanka. He promised that if she could recognize him upon his return, he would consider her request.

The Waiting Period and Fulfillment of the Promise

Following this assurance, Trikuta dedicated her life to waiting for Lord Rama’s return. According to the legend, after victory in Lanka, Lord Rama returned in the disguise of a saint to meet her. Due to divine illusion, Trikuta was unable to recognize him in that form. When Lord Rama revealed his true identity, Trikuta is believed to have felt deep disappointment.

To console her, Lord Rama granted her a significant blessing. He instructed her to reside in a sacred cave located in the Trikuta Mountains, where she would be worshipped in the form of three divine energies symbolizing Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, and Mahasaraswati. These three forms are represented in the shrine as sacred pindis, which continue to be the central focus of worship for devotees visiting the temple.
