Shri Krishna requested the head

Before the Mahabharata war, a valiant man’s head had to be presented for worship on the battlefield. When Shri Krishna requested Barbarik for his head, Barbarik readily gave it to him, and the devotees began referring to him as Sheesh ke Daani.

It is said that if someone begs Baba Khatu Shyam for anything sincere, he would undoubtedly get it; Baba grants all of his requests millions of times. He is also known as Lakhdatar for this reason.

The head was submerged in the Rupavati river

A cow called Radha was unable to provide milk after many years, and Barbarik’s head was buried there after the head was submerged in the Roopvati River until it reached the hamlet of Khatu, where the river dried up. As a result of its owner abandoning it, the cow strayed and eventually arrived at the location where Barbarik’s head was buried. The cow roamed till she came to the grave of Barbarik’s head. Milk began to pour from its udders as soon as it arrived.

The voice from the sky, or Aakashvani

When the Khatu king learned about this, he went there personally and, while excavating, discovered a head. A voice from above then said that this was the head of Barbarik, Ghatotkach’s oldest son. He was fortunate enough to be worshiped as Shyam by Shri Krishnachandra.
