Prahlad Born Story: Birth of a Vishnu devotee in the house of demons, what was the real reason behind Prahlad’s birth
Prahlad Born Story: I’m sure you’ve heard of Lord Vishnu’s greatest follower, Prahlad. Hiranyakashyap of the demon tribe gave birth to Prahlad. He had been the son of Hiranyakashyap, not Hiranyaksha. Unlike his father and his demon tribe, Prahlad was a devoted follower of Lord Vishnu. This indicates that Prahlad’s spirit was not a demon, despite the fact that he was born into the Asura tribe.

It is said that Prahlad was born into the demon clan to establish Dharma and teach his demon father, Hiranyakashyap, a lesson, not because of his previous birth’s transgressions. Prahlad was therefore born into a clan of demons. There is another tale connected to this that also involves Lord Vishnu’s most devoted followers, Jai and Vijay.
The tale of Vijay and Jai
In mythology, Jai and Vijay were the two guardians of Lord Vishnu. Four sages known as Sanat Kumaras—Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanatana, and Sanatkumara—once traveled to Vaikuntha in order to have Lord Vishnu’s darshan. They were halted at the entrance by Jai and Vijay, who would not let them enter Vaikuntha. This infuriated the elders, who cursed Jai and Vijay with being born on earth. The sages explained that this curse would remain for three lifetimes, after which Jai and Vijay might return to Vaikuntha when they begged for forgiveness.
Three-birth Curse
Jai and Vijay were forced to have three separate births on Earth due to the sages’ curse. Jai and Vijay were born to the sage Kashyap as Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashyapa in the first birth. Since they saw Lord Vishnu as their adversary, they both confronted him. To slay Hiranyaksha, Lord Vishnu used the Varaha avatar; to kill Hiranyakashipu, he adopted the Narasimha avatar.
He was born as Ravana and Kumbhakarna in the second incarnation, who were slain by Lord Rama, and as Shishupal and Dantavakra in the third, who were slain by Lord Krishna. This mythology is said to have something to do with Prahlad’s birth.
Because his father, Hiranyakashipu, was Lord Vishnu’s cursed gatekeeper, Prahlad was born into the Asura clan. Not only was Prahlad a demon’s offspring at birth, but he was also a holy being sent to guard Dharma and guide his father.
