Mythological Story of Shakambhari Devi:

According to the legend found in Maa Shakambhari’s mythical writings, there once was a demon by the name of Durgam that terrorized the planet. People were dying as a result of the terrible drought brought on by a shortage of food and water, which had been caused by a lack of rain for almost a century. Life was coming to an end. Brahmaji has lost all four Vedas to the monster.

Then the hundred-eyed Maa Shakambhari Devi took on the shape of Adishakti Maa Durga. She began to weep, and as her tears flowed, water began to pour over the whole planet. The Durgam monster was ultimately vanquished by Maa Shakambhari.

In another mythology, Shakumbhara (Shakambhari) Devi is said to have done penance for a hundred years by eating vegetarian meals once a month. Trees and plants thrived in such a desolate region where there had been no water for a hundred years.

When sages and saints arrived to see the mother’s miracle, they were fed vegetarian fare. This indicated that the mother exclusively eats vegetarian cuisine, and she was given the moniker “Shakambhari Mata” after this occurrence.
