Story of Varaha Avatar: How Lord Vishnu saved the Earth from Hiranyaksha

Story of Varaha Avatar: In order to steal the gods’ authority and establish his dominance, Hiranyaksha concealed the earth in the abyss, commonly known as the sea. “Bhavsagar” was the name of this sea, where the earth was concealed. Hiranyaksha is portrayed as a monster that damages the ground in the mythology of Vishnu’s Varaha avatar. Vishnu slew Hiranyaksha and rescued the world from the abyss by assuming the form of Varaha.

To show off his might, Hiranyaksha, a formidable demon, concealed the earth in the abyss. By concealing the ground, Hiranyaksha attempted to upset the natural order, causing both gods and mortals to suffer. Knowing that only Lord Vishnu could stop him, Hiranyaksha likewise concealed the ground to defy him.

The birth of Hiranyaksha and his penance

The sage Kashyap and his wife, Diti, were the parents of Hiranyaksha. He was Hiranyakashyap’s twin brother. Both are regarded as the first manifestations of Lord Vishnu’s guardians, Vijay and Jai, who were cursed by the sages. Hiranyaksha increased his might by doing a rigorous penance. Brahma requested the blessing of immortality when he seemed happy with his penance.

Hiranyaksha requested a blessing that no demon, god, person, animal, or other thing could kill him after Brahma said that this was not feasible. Additionally, he ensured that Varaha (boar), which he regarded as a very unimportant animal, was not included in the boon.

Using the ocean to conceal the earth

Hiranyaksha became haughty after receiving the gift. To demonstrate his might, he began to annoy the gods and sages. He once carried the whole world to Patala Lok and concealed it in the deep ocean after lifting it. The gods pleaded to Lord Vishnu to preserve the world when there was a commotion as the earth was flooded.

Varaha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu

Lord Vishnu took on the Varaha avatar after hearing the gods’ petitions. His enormous size and sharp teeth gave him the appearance of a big hog. Using his supernatural vision, Lord Varaha ventured into the ocean and discovered the Earth. When Hiranyaksha saw Varaha, he made fun of him, but Lord Varaha ignored him. He was assaulted by Hiranyaksha, and the two engaged in a bloody conflict for several years.

Earth’s Salvation

At last, Hiranyaksha was murdered by Lord Varaha using his sharp fangs. Then he raised the Earth on his teeth and set it back where it belonged. Therefore, in addition to killing Hiranyaksha, Lord Vishnu in the Varaha avatar saved the Earth by removing it from the ocean.
