Ayodhya’s astrologer Pandit Kalki Ram says that, according to the Hindu calendar, the fast of Mohini Ekadashi is observed every year on Ekadashi Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakh. This year Ekadashi Tithi will start on May 7 at 10:19 am and end on May 8 at 12:29 pm. We will observe the Mohini Ekadashi fast on Thursday, May 8.

According to religious belief, observing the Mohini Ekadashi fast destroys all a person’s sins. Additionally, worshipping Lord Vishnu with rituals on this day removes all life’s troubles. By donating as much as possible to the needy and the poor on Ekadashi Tithi, one gets the special blessings of Goddess Lakshmi.

It is said in religious traditions that Lord Vishnu transformed into Mohini on the Ekadashi Tithi of the month of Vaishakh. When the demons snatched the nectar after the Samudra Manthan, Lord Vishnu transformed into Mohini and fed the nectar to the gods. Every year in the month of Vaishakh, people observe the fast of Mohini Ekadashi in memory of this incident.
